introducing you to butcherbox!

September 6, 2016 by katiebenson Leave a Comment

I’m excited to share a fun product with you guys (and a great discount!). 100% grass-fed meats and organic chicken delivered to your door step! ButcherBox is similar to other monthly delivery boxes like Birch Box (beauty products) and Bark Box (dog toys and treats), but this is high quality meat, chicken and pork delivered to your door. Right up my quality-food loving alley.

ButcherBox

Some of you may have seen my first ButcherBox on Instagram the other day – I was so excited! For Mitch and I, it’s a pain finding quality meats every week, but we make the effort to go to multiple grocery stores and our farmer’s market because we really care about the farms we are supporting and what type of meat is going into our bodies. It’s so important! ButcherBox was created when its founder Mike Salguero discovered that getting grass-fed beef was far too challenging for far too many people. It’s much healthier than ordinary grain-fed beef and really does taste better. His goal is to make healthy 100% grass-fed beef more accessible than ever before.

Lots of people have asked me what was in my first box – so here’s an overview:
I chose a mixed box with beef, chicken and pork because I wanted to try everything. I received 2 steaks, 2 lbs of ground beef, 4 chicken breasts, a 4lb pork roast (incredibly hard to find quality pork in your grocery store so I was especially excited about this), 1 lb of bacon and 2 lbs short ribs.

Why Grass-Fed Matters?
Grass-fed beef has more antioxidants, better vitamin content, and 3X the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) of grain-fed beef – which research shows might protect against heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. It’s also a whole lot better for the cattle because they enjoy free range on pasture rather than sitting in crowded feedlots. This is a huge reason why I won’t buy just any meat – I really don’t want to support a farm that doesn’t treat the animals well. I won’t do it.

How Does it Work?
ButcherBox ships its customers a box of 100% grass-fed beef delivered each month. The meat is flash frozen and they curate which cuts you receive. They also offer mixed boxes including organic chicken and /or Heritage bred pork. You can even customize your box with add-ons like burgers, bacon, and ribeye.

Why I am Loving my first Butcher Box
I am so impressed by the meat, chicken and pork I received in my box! It’s free of all antibiotics, hormones, and GMO’s. Each box is $129 and comes with 6 – 10 lbs worth of meat, which is enough for 15 – 20 individual sized meals (at a 6 – 8oz portion size). The price works out to about $7/meal and shipping is free. You can also setup your delivery frequency to only receive a box every two or three months.
